One Book One Community 2025: The Earth

 

2025 One Book One Community Festival Schedule

 

Co-sponsors of the One Book One Community Festival are the City of Macomb’s Shared Community Action Group, Macomb Public Library, Western Illinois Museum, University of Illinois Extension, the YMCA, Prairie View Conservancy, Macomb Woman’s Club Recycling Project, and Western Illinois University.   

                                                                                                                                                                                        

Additional participating organizations include area book clubs, Macomb schools, the YMCA’s After School programs, Blandinsville, Bushnell, and Colchester public libraries, Macomb Park District, FOP Lodges 169 and 189, Macomb day care centers, Prairieview Townhomes, and Macomb Friends of the Library.

April 3. 10:30 a.m.  Messy Makers Thank You, Earth story time with Tiffany Erickson.  Macomb Public Library.

 

April 6. 1:30-3:00 p.m. Illinois Road Scholar Amy McMorrow Hunter on "Creating Our Future." This program will also provide community members an opportunity to discuss and exchange information about local environmental initiatives and projects. Participants will connect with individuals and organizations to create positive change, share resources, and collaborate on solutions. Western Illinois Museum

 

April 12. 10:30 a.m. Thank You, Earth story time with Tiffany Erickson. Macomb Public Library

 

April 12.  9:00 a.m.- noon (long hike) and 1:00-2:00 pm. (short hike). Prairie View Conservancy Earth Month Celebration at Prairie Hills Wetland Reserve, Canton, IL. Tour these beautiful habitats of wetlands and upland prairie. Registration required at prairieviewconservancy.org/events

 

April 19. 1:00 p.m. WIU Community Music School April Concert. Among other pieces, students will play two folk songs, Morning Has Broken and Lightly Row that reflect the OBOC Festival theme, The Earth: Our Home. WIU COFAC Recital Hall

April 22. 6:30-8:00 p.m. With the decline of local, often family-run grocery stores, small rural communities must find solutions to ensure access to fresh, affordable food while addressing the economic impact and rising health concerns. This Community Conversation explores barriers to providing fresh, affordable food in rural Illinois as well as the innovative solutions being developed and implemented. Western Illinois Museum

April 25. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Bill Maakestad Final Friday concert with Earth: Our Home as the theme. The Wine Sellers
